Stencils and Paint Give Dated Furniture A New Fresh New Look!

Good morning, my DIY furniture friends.  It can be so easy to kick your old furniture to the curb.  Despite its dated look, sometimes old pieces of furniture still have lots of life left in them.  Paint, pattern, and pretty knobs can work wonders on an old item.  Cutting Edge Stencils is here to inspire you with two stenciled furniture makeovers..

Tribal Arrow Stenciled Demilune Table

We’d like to welcome back Angela, the creative DIYer behind the blog Number Fifty Three.  Angela found a demilune table at a local thrift shop.  It was black and white checked with paint peeling off.  Despite it’s lackluster apprearance, Angela saw a ton of potential.  She sanded the item and then painted it her favorite color, General Finishes Corinth Blue. She said, “It is truly the most perfect turquoise, in my opinion.”  Once the table was painted, she lightly distressed it.  Then she chose to paint a stencil on the top.  Angela had previously painted some accent pillows using a Tribal Arrow Paint-A-Pillow kit.  She simply rinsed off the reusable stencil and then painted the tribal arrow pattern on the top of the table using General Finishes Seagull Gray. There you have it! That’s how she transformed it into this blue beauty.

Ikat Saida Stenciled TV Console

Next we’d like to welcome Shanna, the furniture makeover guru from Restoration Redoux.  Shanna had swapped out her old TV console.  The old console was dark and dull but it was still in good shape.  Rather than toss it to the curb, Shanna chose to give it a makeover.  First she painted two coats of Plaster Paint in Sweet Cream.  Then she decided to give it the stenciled touch.   Shanna had also previously stenciled an accent pillow using the Ikat Saida Paint-A-Pillow kit.   She stenciled the top of the TV console Plaster Paint in Flannel.  To complete the makeover, she bought pretty new knobs from a local hobby store.  There you have it, a stenciled cabinet makeover.
